The Navigators Group, a US-based insurance company focusing on specialty products within the overall property/casualty insurance market, has selected Saul Basch to its board of directors.

The Navigators Group president and chief executive officer Stanley Galanski said the company welcomed the addition of Saul Basch to its board of directors.

"Saul's track record of accomplishment and demonstrated financial expertise in both public accounting and as a finance executive in the specialty insurance industry will be of tremendous value to our Board and our Company as we continue to pursue profitable growth," Galanski added.

Basch started his professional career with Coopers & Lybrand and acted as an industry leader and senior partner of the company's metropolitan New York Insurance Practice.

In 1995, he joined HSB Group and served in the senior positions including vice chairman, chief financial officer and treasurer, the underwriter said.

Navigators has insurance company operations, underwriting management companies and operations at Lloyd's of London.
