Sulzer has invested CHF10 million in a new wastewater pump production plant in Kunshan, China.

Up to 70 employees will assemble approximately 10 000 pumps, mixers and compressors annually for the water supply and wastewater treatment industries. The Kunshan production plant will initially manufacture pumps, mixers and compressors for the Chinese market. Products will be shipped to other Asian countries at a later date.

“The production facility in Kunshan will increase our competitiveness in China and shorten our delivery times,” said Kim Jackson, president of Sulzer Pumps.

Sulzer has been operating in China for almost 100 years. The company delivered its first water pumps to China in 1922.

The new factory in Kunshan is Sulzer’s sixth production plant in China. Sulzer Pumps has two other manufacturing facilities in Dalian and Suzhou, producing pumps for the hydrocarbon processing, oil & gas, power generation, and pulp and paper industries.
